T2 Diamond 2019 Malaysia was held from July 2nd to 7th, with a total of 2 titles, men’s singles, women’s singles . Not only FRANZISKA Patrick (Germany) defeated LIANG Jingkun (China) who was top 4 of 2019 world championship, but also LIN Yun-Ju (Chinese Taipei) upset MA Long (China) who won the world championship 3 times in a row and FAN Zhendong (China).
On the other hand, KATO Miyu (Japan) showed great victory against ITO Mima (Japan) and CHEN Meng (China) in a row. However, China had many top players as expected, top 3 was still dominated by China.
Although China won both the men’s and women’s singles titles, each country showed that they were approaching the power of China.

Winner: LIN Yun-Ju (Chinese Taipei)
Runner-up: FAN Zhendong (China)
3rd place: XU Xin (China)
The champion is LIN Yun-Ju who showed amazing performance by defeating MA Long and FAN Zhendong. His evolution did not stop even during the tournament. FAN Zhendong, who was the runner-up, defeated XU Xin who was 3rd place. It’s been a long time since FAN made it to the top in an international tournament. XU Xin defeated WONG Chun Ting (HongKong), who was also pen holder and in very good state, and won the 3rd place.
In Japanese men’s team, HARIMOTO Tomokazu lost against WONG Chun Ting in the round of 16.
Also NIWA Koki was beaten by the world championship runner-up FALCK Mattias (Sweden), and MIZUTANI Jun was beaten by 17-year-old hope LIN Yun-Ju by 4-0.
Although every players can meet against top players in the world, this results reconfirmed Japanese standings.

Runner-up: WANG Manyu (China)
3rd place: DING Ning (China)
ZHU Yuling won the title with her outstanding play in both offense and defense. The runner-up is Wang Manyu, who is known for her power play comparable to men’s players. The 3rd place was Rio de Janeiro Olympic gold medalist DING Ning.
In Japanese women’s team, ISHIKAWA Kasumi once overwhelmed ZHU Yuling with her aggressive backhand, but she lost the game because of ZHU’s skillful play on the table disturbed her pace in the round of 16.
ITO Mima faced with KATO Miyu in the round of 16. Even though ITO won the first game, she lost 3 geames in a row. She took 2 games in FAST5 and lost against KATO.
Driving on without stop, the victorious KATO Miyu upset CHEN Meng and advanced to the semi-finals. She lost against ZHU Yuling who was the champion of the tournament in semi-finals and DING Ning in the 3rd place playoff. However, she beat Chinese top player and won a valuable 4th place.
HIRANO Miu faced with FENG Tianwei (Singapore). HIRANO took 2 games in a row, but then HIRANO played safely and allowd a comeback in the round of 16.
Only Japanese women’s KATO Miyu won the match in this tournament, chasing ISHIKAWA Kasumi, ITO Mima and HIRANO Miu in the race to qualify for the Tokyo Olympics. Who will win a ticket to the Tokyo Olympics with good results not only in the World Tour but also in the remaining 2 T2 Diamonds? You can’t miss their future records.
